The first time, it took me WEEKS! When I finally got it, it was an accident. And I didn’t have a strategy, but it made sense to just look at the ridges. I was able to do it constantly, but I didn’t have an actual strategy. (If that makes sense) This video explains a different way of doing it. Especially that last piece. It was tricky doing it the way I was doing at first. Your strategy make that last piece simpler.

How did u figure this out tho??? Like its impossible to know the combination tho ... Without any help, appreciate it, just bought mine and was annoying me AFZ cause there is no logic .. just trial and error

I had to just mess around with it for about an hour and a half. Once I got the first 2 separations I kinda got the algorithm to get it all apart. I'm just here to get it back together. Thanks!

At the end my piece gets stuck and wont go together

I found it much harder to reassemble than take apart.

now that i know how it works, it's somehow not any easier.

I just got the puzzle,took it out of the box and found that it is assembled backwards from the way you said it was supposed to be. I'm totally stumped now ! How do I go about this? Thanks! Ted

These videos are a real help, thank you. I do have a question: when reassembling, how do you know what the starting position was? I got mine separated mostly by accident, did the first step of reassembly and figured it was done. With some of these a proper reassembly seems impossible based on memory alone.

Ross I actually solved the ufo puzzle another way. By having one line at 3oclock and 9oclock on the hanayama ufo side and having another line on the smaller hole side at 11oclock and 5oclock the puzzle opens to almost completely apart but then with much work and trial and error it came apart and put it back together with two in one hole 1and 2 piece and 3and 2 piece and anyway now thing doesn’t turn correctly so I think I may have put it in wrong. Either way I wasn’t going to watch your video and cheat myself from solving it. Thought you might give it a try and see if you can get apart that way as well. Be blessed my friend! Shalom

I figured step 1 and 2 but kept getting frustrated on 3. After solving it, i slowly deconstructed it and figured another way to solve it which i think is how you speed solved it.

In knot theory this is basically 3 links made into a weave via Reidemister Moves. With that said thanks for the answer

It took me maybe 15 minutes to get it apart but one of the neighborhood kids made me 70/30 proud and salty because he just grabbed a corner and jiggled it for a second and it fell apart

Hi Ross,I have the trout puzzle, which looks like the sea bream. I took it apart ok, but I don't think I'm putting it together correctly because it was too easy to take it apart again.

Instead of shaking it; you can: 1) open it up on the back greater than half way 2) flip the puzzle over to the hyrule crest side 3) turn it vertical and slide apart. The key is not to open it up in step 1 all the way.

Your videos are so helpful! In this one, when reassembling, I’m getting stuck at 4:16. It won’t flip smoothly. I’ll keep patiently trying.

Well mine is just stuck. Did this happen to anyone? the inside piece will not move more can an inch or so in any direction. I don´t know if it´s deffective or what.

Ross, let me compliment you for a well put together tutorial. The presentation is clear and lucid ... it helped me solve the puzzle after i got lost watching some other video.

Just found your videos. Only watching the one's of puzzles I have solved so far on my own. Love watching you figure them out 👍 Btw you did not solve this one as intended 😉. Although I agree it is simpler than most level 5 puzzles, i think the intended method makes it slightly harder to figure out than how you did it with your nail. The hint is to look at the logo where it says "tube" and pay very close attention to the line around the concaved section.
